Tired of sending CVs/ Resume and getting no calls for interview? There is something missing. You must do something. Your CV/ Resume, I would say, is your passport that could lead you towards an opportunity having an interview. Prepare it wisely. You have only 10 – 15 seconds to be shortlisted for an interview or next screening procedure, therefore, your resume must be customized.
Whenever I wanted CVs for selection from my HR, they flood me with 100s of CVs in 5 minutes. I just click them on the outlook to see the preview and if it appeals to me, I go for opening it as separate window, else just click next.
You will hear several people complaining that I have been sending CVs to 1000s advertisement but no response. There must be something which could be missing
There are thousands of people sending CVs for jobs you are also applying for. It is really difficult for recruiter as well to read all CVs in detail at first stage. Therefore, they adopt quick screening tips to shortlist potential candidates.
If you could not leave an impression in these 10 to 15 seconds of your resume display on his/ her screen, unfortunately, you are out
Pro – Tips
- No one is interested in what you do as job responsibilities, but he will be interested in what you are good at and what you can do.
- Use key words as reflected in job requirements/ advertisement. AI (Artificial intelligence) software picks them having similar words.
- Customize your resume according to job advertised.
- It should not be a “shelf item” to be sent on every job opportunity
- First page should give an absolute impression that you are a potential candidate
- It should be unique so the recruiter can remember you.
- Adequate length is another important factor.
