I have executed more than 40 projects, at different positions, in the last couple of decades related to water and wastewater treatment infrastructure plants across the GCC and Africa. Out of these projects, two are the biggest of their type.
Year 2018 – 2023
Desalination Plant – Al Khobar, KSA – 840,000 m3/day
I am proud to work as “Engineering Manager” of these two desalination plants, from Acciona Agua, having combine capacity of 840,000 m3/day located at Al Khobar, Dammam Saudi Arabia.
This plant is biggest for Acciona Agua worldwide whereas one of the biggest plant in Kingdom serving community in Eastern Region.
Features:
- Open intake seawater with 2 km submerged intake pipeline.
- DAF & DMF as pretreatment followed by Cartridge Filtration with energy recovery.
- Over 58,000 SWRO membranes are used supplied by LG
Year 2016 – 2018
STP – South Dhahran, KSA – 70,000 m3/day
Worked as “Project Manager” from Passavant Energy & Environment GmbH, for this STP located at South Dhahran, Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Engineering was done by Passavant while civil works by AZIZ Company as it was a consortium.
Features:
- Anaerobic Digesters to recover biomass as bi- product from sewage treatment plant serving for municipality.
- Physio-chemical treatment followed by biological clarifiers achieving high level treated sewage effluent..
- Energy recovery through digesters
Year 2009 – 2011
STP – Yas Island, Abu Dhabhi – 40,000 m3/day
Worked as “Sr. Project Engineer” from Metito Overseas Limited, for this STP located at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE. It is a State-of-the-art plant equipped with the latest technologies where treated sewage is recycled and used for district cooling and irrigation.
Features:
- Membranes Biological Reactor (MBRs) were used manufactured by TORAY with flat sheet configuration..
- Thanks to MBRs that facilities in reducing footprint drastically with ultra high quality of produced effluent that is being used/ recycled in irrigation purpose.
Year 2008 – 2009
Sewage TP – International City, Dubai – 15,000 m3/day
Worked as Project Engineer from Metito for this domestic sewage treatment plant for newly developed community in heart of Dubai, International City (where Dragon Mart is located), designed for Nakheel.
It was done in 3 phases of 5000 m3 each phase. Plant was designed considering future growth in layout in short span of time.
Features:
- Phase 2 & 3 were done with MBRs to reduce the footprint.
- Phase 1 was conventional Activated Sludge process
- Centrifuges were used for sludge treatment Treated water was recycled in irrigation
Year 2012 – 2013
Industrial WWT & Recycling – IIFCO, Sharjah – 10,000 m3/day
Worked as Project Manager from German firm, MENA Water GmbH in 2012-2013 for industrial wastewater treatment & recycling plant owned by giant food processing company, IIFCO, Sharjah, UAE.
DAF was used upstream MBR reactor followed by Reverse Osmosis Plant to recycle the wastewater and used in processing again.
Features:
- DAF was used as pretreatment for this strong wastewater
- MBRs (Membrane Biological Reactor) were used as main reactor.
- BWRO was designed downstream to recycle the high-quality treated wastewater and used in processing again
